Terry Givens

EMS Director

​Terry Givens serves as Director of Smith County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), providing leadership and oversight for delivering emergency medical services to Smith County residents. He brings more than 17 years of experience in emergency medical services, along with a diverse professional background in operations, maintenance, leadership, and public service.

A lifelong resident of the Kempville community in Defeated, Tennessee, Terry has dedicated much of his professional career to serving the citizens of Smith County. He began his EMS career in 2009 after a successful career as a Maintenance Technician with Dura Automotive. His professional experience also includes positions in Plant Operations at Riverview Regional Medical Center and Trousdale Medical Center.

These experiences have provided Terry with extensive knowledge in operations management, problem-solving, leadership, and organizational support. He applies this experience to the administration and continued development of Smith County EMS, with a focus on providing reliable, professional, and compassionate emergency medical services to the community.

Terry is a member of the Upper Cumberland Directors Association, where he works with other emergency services leaders to promote cooperation, communication, and continued improvement of emergency medical services throughout the region.

In addition to his career in emergency services, Terry has extensive experience in local government and public service. He served as a Smith County Commissioner for eight years, providing him with valuable experience in county government and a comprehensive understanding of the needs, priorities, and responsibilities of serving the citizens of Smith County.

As Director of Smith County EMS, Terry is committed to supporting the department’s mission and ensuring that residents and visitors to Smith County have access to timely, professional, and quality emergency medical services when they are needed.
